Lecturers have called off their 2-month strike after reaching an agreement with the government.
Confirming the development, Uasu secretary general Constantine Wasonga said the two sides had hit a deal on their 2013-17 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Wasonga revealed that of the Sh10 billion on offer, the union will receive a total amount of Sh6 billion.
"17.5 per cent of the amount will cater for interests on basic salary while 3.9 per cent will cater for house allowances," he said.
The deal will be backdated from 2013 July to 2017 June and will be spanned across all universities with the exception of Masaai Mara which was not part of the deal.
He added that all academic staff members will receive their arrears cumulative over the period.
Classes in all affected institutions are bound to resume on Tuesday and university senates will revise their semester dates to compensate for the lost time.
