Lecturers have called off their 38-day strike.
Announcing the end of the strike, UASU secretary general Constantine Wesonga said that the union had signed a CBA signalling the return to work.
"We want to put to rest the strike that has hit the Universities for more than 3 weeks," said Wesonga.
The return to work deal was signed by UASU with the Universities Council following a consultative meeting with the Inter Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum (IPUCCF).
The union added that the agreement was a compromise and arriving at it was challenging.
Learning in the Universities has been paralyzed for the better part of the year. Earlier this year, the Don's were on strike for about 54days.
The dons union was promised a speedy commencement of negotiations for the next Collective Bargaining Agreement set to begin next week and a commitment that what was in arrears would be paid out in a timely fashion. The Universities' staff are owing the government sh. 2billion which it promised to pay. It is a reprieve for students whom most of them were idle in their respective campuses pending uncertainties of the strike.
