A strike threatens to disrupt learning across all public universities starting Monday if lecturers make real their threat to down their tools.

The dons had given the government until Friday midnight to implement their 2013-17 Collective Bargaining Agreement earlier signed in March.

Three university unions gave a joint statement warning that they will withdraw their services because the state has shown no indication of honouring the CBA.​

“No one in government seems ready to address this plight. The government and university councils seemingly want the education sector to suffer again,” University Academic Staff Union secretary general Constantine Wasonga said.
