The Inter-Public Universities Council Consultative Forum (IPUCCF) on Sunday warned those lecturers who have been on strike that their payment might not be effected.
IPUCCF chairman, Professor Paul Kanyari said that universities will not be comfortable paying lecturers for days they were on strike.
Speaking before the National Assembly Education Committee, Prof Kanyari criticised the lecturers for the boycott that have since paralysed learning in universities across the country.
"They have boycotted work yet they still want to be paid," said professor Kanyari.
Professor Paul Kanyari's warning came on Sunday after lecturers vowed to go on with the strike despite a Friday labour court ruling that declared the strike unprotected.
University Academic Staff Association (Uasu) through its secretary general, Constantine Wasonga, promised to go on with the strike unabated.
"Uasu to appeal the court ruling of 16th March 2018. Therefore, the status quo remains, which means the strike continues unabated. We respect the law and we want to challenge the ruling as per law establish," said Mr. Wasonga.
Vice-chancellors Committee chairman Francis Aduol's comment could have also signified uncertainty in the settling of the lecturers' salaries.
Mr. Aduol was speaking on the pay-for-work-not-done issue which he said would be dealt with during the signing of a return-to-work formula.
"We will raise the issue when we sign return-to-work formula," the chairman said.
The lecturers have been on strike since March 1st to push for a counter-offer from the government for the 2017=2021 collective bargaining agreement.
