The National Assembly Legal Affairs Committee has approved the nomination of Mr Wafula Chebukati as chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Six other commissioners were approved by the committee. 

The committee led by Njoroge Baiya also approved the nomination of former Archbishop of  ACK Eliud Wabukhala as chairperson of the Ethic and Ant-Corruption Commission.

The report has so far received support from both Cord and Jubilee coalitions. 

A special sitting will resume at 2:30 pm on Tuesday to debate on whether to adopt or reject the names which will later be forwarded to the President once approved for the appointments.
