Legendary gospel artiste Reuben Kigame will launch the 'Kigame awards' this year in a move to award the forgotten heroes.

He said this awards will honour those who have been in the ministry, including pastors, musicians, writers, and scholars and have never been recognized for their exemplary work by anyone.

"It's sad that there are some people who have done a lot to this country but have never been awarded, how can a person like 'githeri man' be recognized but the likes of Ngugi Wa Thiongo totally ignored,” he said in Eldoret town on Wednesday.

"I will use the few resources that God has given me reward them since they have transformed lives and enlighten many. The winners will be selected through a panel that wills observer their work and present winners," he added.

He called upon both the county and national government to honor people who have transformed the nation for them to be blessed.

“Maybe the problems we have been experiencing as a country is because we have refused to honour our heroes,” noted Kigame.

He, however, applauded the National Transport and Safety Authority for the night travel ban but urged them to ensure that the ‘Michuki’ laws are followed to the latter.
