Kalimoni ward MCA Joel Waichere has called on Governor William Kabogo to support the victims of a fire incident in his ward in Juja sub-county where more than 120 people were left homeless and their property burnt to ashes.
The fire, which occurred Monday morning is said to have spread very fast from one of the business premises before being blown by the wind towards the residential flats.
The MCA called on the governor to make sure that the residents are settled immediately and that they are more comfortable.
“I call upon our county boss to look at his suffering people and help them in any way possible as they have nowhere to go following the disaster. We hope they will be settled soon,” Waichere said.
He added that the fire fighters arrived at the scene late, which contributed to more houses being razed, calling on the county to improve on the service.
He has urged the well wishers to donate anything of use to the victims for the time being.
Waichere vowed to help see to it that the victims are settled again. Most of the victims, who are students, have been housed by the JKUAT administration.
