A section of Kisumu County residents living in Lela area have asked the county government to erect bumps on a section of Kisumu-Busia Highway at.

According to the area residents, the section poses a great danger to them since it is has so many bends with no road sign or bumps to control speed.

The residents said the situation is much risk considering a big number of residents who live along the busy highway.

“This curvaceous stretch is risky to many of us and any wise contractor should have realised it and erect speed bumps because it is obvious such section of the road are dangerous,” said Karen Owoo, resident.

A majority of the residents who addressed this writer on Saturday said their children’s lives are at a greater risk from the speeding vehicles which ply the route.

“Vehicles on this road are always speeding and with children’s playful nature, anything can happen considering that they are not fully aware of road regulations,” said Martin Akenga, anothe resident.

Apart from asking for bumps to be erected, the locals want pedestrian crossing section marked on the road to facilitate easy crossing, especially for school going pupils.
