Presenting their grievances before Eldoret West Sub County Director of Education, Kimutai Chirchir, the students said that the school lacked basic water infrastructure and a health centre.

“We pay school fees every term yet there are no water tanks in the school, forcing us fetch water from the neighbourhood. We also lack a well-equipped health centre to serve the students,” said one of the students.

However, Chirchir said that his office had noted their complaints, adding that they will investigate the students’ claims.

He called upon the students to use proper channels to air their views, adding that picketing without notifying the necessary authorities was against the law.

“I have heard your grievances and will expedite investigations. As students, you should air your views through the board of governors as a proper channel of information,” said Chirchir.
