President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked Kenyan Muslims to congregate in mosques Friday 10, March, and Christian faithfuls to do so in churches, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12, to pray for Kenya.

This is in line with the start of the one week, Lenten campaign, which kicked off March 6.

He reminded Kenyans to remember to pray for peace, sufficient rains, sustains stability and growth, prosperity and that God’s favour remains in the country.

“Kenyans are known to be a Godfearing people. Yes, we belong to different religions and denominations, but we are bound by our common belief that we all sin, we suffer, and that we can repent and be reborn. Our history as a Nation is filled with these instances. We have sinned before God and committed wrongs against each other,’’ he said, according to State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu.

In a statement, Uhuru urged Kenyans to embrace peace.

“As your president and fellow citizen, I promise to do my part. I will act firmly and judiciously in the cause of peace and security for all Kenyans,’’ he affirmed.
