Kenya football giants AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will be dealt a huge blow after the expected sponsorship pull-outs by their main funders Sportpesa.
In a communique, the company wrote informing all beneficiaries of its sponsorships that it would be scaling down the size of sponsorship to these teams starting January 1.
The company cited the huge burden of taxation by the government as the key reason they were pulling out.
Apart from the two arch-rivals, the other teams affected are Nakuru All Stars Football Club, Sportpesa Quins together with the SportPesa Premier League (formerly Kenya Premier League), SportPesa Super 8 League sponsorships.
Next year, Leopards and Gor are expected to represent the country in their continental matches and the present hitch could mean that they don't honour the matches.
