AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia can now breathe a sigh of relief after they were cleared of blemish by visiting FIFA officials.
FIFA was in the country to investigate the two clubs alongside Sofapaka FC over wrongdoings in their player transfer business.
Led by Prisca Mutesi and Kimberly Morris, the officials from the Fifa Transfer Management System had earlier termed their visit as normal and that they were not in the country to incriminate anyone.
“We do this every year and the reason we are focusing on the three clubs is because they have been very active in the transfer market over the last five years. Our meeting with officials from the clubs has so far been very cordial and we found them transparent and open,” said Morris, the General Manager Head of Integrity and Compliance.
On her part, the Integrity and Compliance Counsel Mutesi said they were in the country to make sure both FKF and clubs carry out transfers in the right manner.
“Our main concern is not to punish anyone when they don’t do the right thing but rather to ensure that the process is done in the right manner,” she said.
Leopards CEO Ronald Namai revealed that they were happy with the meeting and added that this had come as an eye opener for them.
“We had a very good meeting and basically they wanted to know if our transfer manager understands the system and offer any support we may need in this regard,” he said.
He also said that FIFA officials had inquired about the transfer of former attacker Dan Wagaluka and are now offering to conduct follow up in future.
“The matter of Wagaluka came up but since we were not in office then, they promised to come back to us in future,” explained Namai.
