Football lovers across the country should lower their unfound addiction of European football and watch the local football which offers just as much entertainment.

Fans should turn up in large numbers and cheer our home-bred talent during matches to encourage them to give even more of what they love doing.

It is not a better sight as all to see hundreds of fans in a hall watching an English Premiership game while our own football fields attract just a few scattered individuals, some of whom watching just because of a lack of better places to spend time.

The enthusiasm and the emotional attachment witnessed during the ups and downs of European clubs should be replicated back at home to our own talents.

The support from spectators brings about the pride, the loyalty and the need to 'do it for my people' among the players.

There is that emotional attachment to the team. This is apparently why a country would go for tens of matches without losing at home or avoiding defeat with huge goal differences.

Large fan turnout also builds the local clubs' income and enables to initiate projects and even the purchase of facilities from the match ticket sales.

The Mashemeji Derby has been by far the greatest spectator attractive fixture and the same should be seen across all the league fixtures.

It is amazing the enthusiastic fans in England or in Brazil or in Spain where a third tier fixture is just as loud as any fixture and the stadiums totally sold out.

Hooliganism and poor fixture timing during weekdays could be a possible reason for the low turnout but how about curbing it or simply putting measures in place to curb the same?

The players, both the experienced and the inexperienced need the presence of cheers and sometimes jeers to foresee a successful improvement from one level to another.

Come on football fans... let's cheer the boys up.
