Senator John Lonyangapuo told off the Jubilee administration over its attack on the opposition stating it is just performing its mandate.

“The government should allow Cord to perform its duties. In every country there must be an opposition that acts as a watchdog to government funds,” said Lonyangapuo as quoted by Citizen Digital.

The Senator said it was healthy for Kenya to have such a strong opposition to check and balance the government on development records as well as ensure public resources are well utilised.

Lonyangapuo further stated that they respect the national leaders, as well as calling on them as they transverse the county to campaign peacefully.

He was accompanied by Civil Aviation Authority chairman Samuel Poghisio.

“We are not barring anybody from visiting this county, but when they come, they should not insult elected leaders,” added Poghisio.

He also clarified that Kanu is not an enemy of the Jubilee administration as portrayed by other leaders in the region.

Lonyangapuo is seeking to oust Governor Simon Kachapin while Poghisio will battle it out with other aspirants for the senatorial seat.

The two spoke at Kaibos in West Pokot.
