Garissa county ward reps have urged county governor Ali Korane not to rush in sacking ghost workers.
The MCAs, led by minority leader Mohamed Ali, said Korane should hire an independent audit firm to conduct staff audit.
Ali said the audit exercise has caused panic among the staffs.
"The exercise has caused unnecessary anxiety among the county workers. The governor should not rush since the entire exercise will create bad blood between the workers and the governor before he fully constitutes his administration", Ali said.
Korane promised major reforms after he was sworn into office.
Korane directed County Public Board to be supply him with the list of workers in the county and their respective roles. He claimed that the previous administration had ghost workers who were receiving salaries illegally.
However, former governor Nathif Jama denied that there are ghost workers.
Jama said workers were legally hired and through the County Public Service Board.
Jama dared Korane to sack workers saying the workers who will be sacked will take a legal action.
