Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, like other Nyamira leaders, has said there is a need for Gusii people to unite but insists such a call must not be for the benefit of a few individuals.

Addressing mourners at Nyakwerema in Borabu, Momanyi said the mandate to unite the Gusii people is to benefit the community in terms of sharing the national cake and not for political mileage.

"Unity is mandatory but let not people unite us and take us to a certain man. It's wrong to be driven by politics in the name of uniting people," added Momanyi on Friday.

The lawmaker, however, criticised the media for publishing negative comments about the community's leaders who visited President Uhuru at State House, Nairobi.

"Our leaders have the right to visit State House because unless they do so we won't get any development projects initiated in our community, so let's not criticise them too much," said Momanyi.
