Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been told to back down on his ambition for the presidency in 2022.
Speaking on Saturday at Chemolingot, vocal Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said Kenyans supported Gideon's father, retired president Daniel Moi, for 24 years and it is time he also allows others to taste the presidency.
“Some of us from humble backgrounds would also like to taste how it feels to be President,” Murkomen said.
The senator is an ally of Deputy President William Ruto who has also declared he is planning to inherit the presidency from his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ruto, the son of a peasant farmer from Kamagut, has fashioned himself as the hustler who has defied all odds to become a prince.
The younger Moi has also said he will be in the race for the top seat in 2022.
Both Ruto and Moi consider the Rift Valley an important vote basket.
