Garissa Governor Nathif Jama has urged area residents to vote for leaders with integrity regardless of the party they belong.
Governor Jama said Garissa residents should not be misled by voting in a person who will not bring development in the county.
He urged the residents to look into the personality and integrity of each of the aspirants who will be vying for different political seats and not be cowed by popularity of the parties they are representing.
Such leaders with integrity will steer the county and country to greater heights of development and improve the living standards of the electorate, said Mr Jama.
Governor Jama also asked the residents to ignore leaders who want to divide them along clan lines.
“Let us all rise above party and clan politics and vote individuals based on their track record. Don’t gamble with your future by voting leaders whose agenda is to promote hatred between communities,” said the governor.
He also urged the leaders to desist from engaging in politics of division along clans’ lines and instead concentrate on preaching unity and integration among all clans in the region especially during this election time.
“It’s my appeal that we remain united and not allow a few individuals who want to divide us on clan basis for their selfish political gains,” he added.
