Uasin Gishu County speaker Isaac Terer has asked Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to focus on policies that will contribute towards county’s development.
Briefing the media in his office on Monday, Terer said that MCAs are the lawmakers at the county levels and that they should work towards presenting policies that will aid in development.
He said that apart from their oversight role, MCAs must work with other leaders to provide crucial services needed by the people.
“MCAs should work with other leaders across the county to promote development,” said Terer.
The speaker said that the county assembly is committed to formulate laws and policies that lead to development.
He also urged leaders in the county to unite for the purpose of development. He intimated that animosity among leaders will only derail development.
Meanwhile Terer has urged youths and women to apply for development funds that are being given by the national and the county government.
The speaker observed that youths and women are not willing to apply for the funds, adding that the county has received very few applications.
Terer noted that unemployment among the youths will be reduced if many of them take advantage of the State funds.
The speaker said the county assembly will continue to fight for inclusion of youths and women in the government’s development.
