Some 100 residents of Kirinyaga county have sued to stop authorities from barring former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru from holding public office over the multi-million-shilling scandal at the NYS.

The 102 residents are seeking court orders to stop any state organ from implementing the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee recommendation on the Sh791 million NYS scandal by which said Waiguru's integrity was questionable.

They said the PAC findings and recommendations were aimed at depriving the Kirinyaga governor aspirant her right to equal protection of the law and the right to free, fair and regular elections on the free will of electors.

The residents argued that everyone has a right to elect a leader of their choice and that Waiguru had to be on the ballot so her supporters could vote her.

Led by Charles Kariouki, the residents  accused the PAC of being unfair to Waiguru since it did not give her the fair chance to cross-examine all the witnesses that appeared before it over the scandal.

They further told the court that the PAC, in recommending the barring Waiguru from holding any public office, illegally assumed the powers of the EACC.

The aggrieved residents have sued the National Assembly, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Attorney General.
