Garissa Women Representative Shukran Gure has urged her fellow women in North Eastern region to come out and challenge men to seek elective posts in the next election.
She has said that women have equal rights with men, and does not see the reason why women have left all seats to men in the region.
Speaking at the Garissa open air market when she donated over 1,000 market sheds to women vendors, Gure said that no woman has been elected for the MP, MCA or other seats apart from the common one 'women rep'.
"Women and youths are the biggest voters. It is time to seek elective posts since women are good to offer quality leadership like men," she said.
The MP added that women have a higher percentage of voters population, therefore, women winning elective seats is no doubt.
