Mutua said that Mutisya was an outstanding politician who championed for peace and unity of the people.

Speaking during a tour of Machakos town on Wednesday, Governor Mutua asked politicians to follow in the footsteps of the former politician.

He said that Ukambani has lagged behind because of disunity among the politicians.

“I urge Kamba politicians to emulate the late Mulu Mutisya and champion for unity and peace as he did during his time as a leader,” said Mutua.

The governor stated that the region will achieve its development goals if there is unity among leaders and the people.

Mutua said that for a long time politicians in the region have been used as political rubber stamps for others.

“Time has come for us Ukambani leaders to work together and focus on bettering the living standards of our people,” said the Governor.

Mutua urged residents not to be swayed by petty and selfish politics perpetuated by some politicians.

At the same time, the Machakos governor revealed that a statute to honour the late Kamba veteran politician Mulu Mutisya will be erected in Machakos town.

He also indicated that the Mulu Mutisya grounds in Machakos will be beatified to international standards.

Mulu Mutisya who was the most powerful political figure during former President Jomo Kenyatta ad Daniel Moi governments died in 2004.
