Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti has reached out to deputy governor Bernard Kiala asking him to join forces with her in order to send governor Alfred Mutua packing in the August 8 polls.
Ndeti on Tuesday appealed to Kiala to work with her after the deputy governor lost in the Wiper nominations.
The Machakos governor hopeful said that Mutua will be send packing by 8 AM if Kiala supports her bid.
“I have talked to Kiala and urged him to join forces with me so that we can comfortably send Mutua home by 8 Am on August 8,” she said as quoted by the Star.
Ndeti said that Machakos people are tired of Mutua’s leadership and that he has to go home in August.
The former Kathiani MP clinched the Wiper gubernatorial ticket after flooring Kiala in the nominations on Sunday.
Ndeti garnered 299,312 votes against Kiala’s 4,663.
Kiala, however, disputed the results saying that the nomination was not free and fair.
Governor Mutua criticized Wiper’s Machakos gubernatorial nomination claiming that the result was ‘cooked’ in favour of Wavinya Ndeti.
Ndeti has since dismissed Mutua’s claims asking him to stop poking his nose into Wiper politics.
Political analysts observe that Machakos governor race will be among those to watch with some saying that Mutua could retain the seat basing on alleged cracks and misunderstandings in the Kalonzo Musyoka’s party.
