Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti has cautioned politicians in the county against dividing locals on political grounds.

Ndeti instead wants the politicians to focus on preaching unity among their supporters.

Wavinya says that political divisions being perpetuated by some politicians are likely to create disunity among the people.

Speaking at her party offices in Machakos on Monday, Wavinya claimed that some politicians are spewing hatred and inciting their supporters against other politicians.

“It is unfortunate that some politicians have decided to preach hatred and divisions among the people instead of creating unity,” she said.

The Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) leader urged politicians to embrace each other’s instead of being enemies.

She noted that though they (politicians) have difference views and ideologies, it is their responsibility to preach peace and unity.

The former Kathiani MP stated that the region will actualize its development goals if elected leaders stop perpetuating hatred among supporters.

She added that Ukambani has lagged behind in terms of development because of political divisions.

The CCU leader who was referring to the rivalry between Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and Senator Johnson Muthama urged leaders to exercise humility and embrace each as Kenyans.

“There is no need for us to create enemies, after all we are Kenyans and we must work together,” she added.
