Several leaders in Uasin Gishu County have urged Kenyans to maintain peace and unity in honor of Bishop Cornelius Korir of the Eldoret Catholic diocese who died on Monday.
Led by the Reformed Church of East Africa (RCEA) Moderator Rev. Musa Maina, the leaders said the best way to remember Bishop Korir is by Kenyans especially in Rift Valley living together harmoniously.
Speaking during a special mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret, Rev. Maina eulogized Bishop Korir as a person who sacrificed most of his time to ensure peace and unity amongst Kenyans.
"All he wanted is to see a united country. I remember a key role he played in restoring cohesion following the 2007/08 post-election violence and as Kenyans, the only and best way to remember him is by following in his footsteps of living in peace," said Rev. Maina.
Similar sentiments were shared by the Uasin Gishu peace ambassador Rose Kisama who challenged leaders to stop engaging in divisive politics.
"As we mourn Bishop Korir I would wish to urge our leaders to focus on preaching peace and unity instead of inciting Kenyans against each other for political reasons," Kisama said.Bishop Korir died aged 67 while in sleep at his home in Eldoret.
