Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe at the NASA brigade, and challenged them to prepare to face him in the
2022 polls.
Speaking in Kakamega on Saturday during the Jubilee Party campaign tour, Ruto said the the opposition leaders were accusing him of giving President Kenyatta’s administration a bad name
“In 2022, I will be ready to face them as a presidential candidate and I can assure them of another defeat since they are always grumbling about everything the government does,” he said.
Ruto has been accused of arrogance from a section of the NASA coalition, with many saying he is the ‘the reason Uhuru will go home’ in the August polls.
Speaking in Nairobi during a NASA rally in Embakasi last month, NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka insisted that Jubilee will not be elected, partially because of Ruto.
“Ruto was in Makueni and said that I know Jubilee will be re-elected. That is a lie. He is a liar. In fact, Ruto is the reason Uhuru Kenyatta will be sent home,” Kalonzo said.
During Saturday’s rally, Ruto and President Kenyatta warned the opposition to be ready for another sounding defeat, worse than they suffered in the last election.
