Kalimoni ward MCA Joel Waichere has called on Juja residents to take advantage of the onset of short rains to plant faster maturing food crops.

Waichere said that rains come and go, and that residents should embrace the sparse rain and plant crops in order eradicate poverty and hunger in the community.

The MCA who was speaking on Sunday in his ward asked farmers to use certified seeds in order to get good harvests and overcome the stigma of relying on relief food donated by the government.

“Let’s work on tilling our lands so as we should not rely on relief food by the government thus we should use the certified seeds donated by the Kiambu county women rep Annah Nyokabi,” said the MCA.

He expressed his concerns with the increased number of poverty in his ward saying it’s because of inadequate supply of water in the villages which he said that he is working towards improving the crisis.

The residents of Kalimoni ward have been without water for some time and Juja Farm being the only source of water in the region which might lead to fatal diseases like cholera due inadequate supply of water.

The MCA revealed that in partnership with the county government of Kiambu, plans are underway in establishing water source in Mwereri Primary School which is at the center of the ward to act as a savior to the residents.

Lack of water in the region has lead to poverty and increase of crime in the region where youths involves in heinous act I  the name of putting food on their tables.

He has extended his gratitude to the residents for their patience and hard work saying their cries will be fulfilled in due cause.
