Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant David Gakuyo has welcomed the approval of former Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Bishop Eliud Wabukala to chair the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Gakuyo says that Wabukala has what it takes to lead the fight against corruption in the country.
Speaking to journalists in Thika on Wednesday, Gakuyo who is also a reverend urged Kenyans to support Wabukala as he takes on his new challenge.
“Kenyans and politicians across the political divide must support Wabukala as he leads the fight against corruption,” he said.
While acknowledging challenges waiting for Wabukala as the EACC boss, Gakuyo said that the former ACK Bishop will survive with prayers and Kenyans support.
“Church leaders are happy that Wabukala, a former ACK Bishop, has been approved to lead the war against graft at the Integrity Centre,” he said.
MPs on Tuesday unanimously approved Wabukala for the EACC top job.
The former ACK Bishop who chairs the National Anti-Corruption Steering Committee will now be appointed and sworn to office by President Uhuru Kenyatta to replace Philip Kinisu who resigned as EACC chairperson last year.
A section of analysts is, however, questioning Wabukala’s ability to spearhead the war against grand theft as his predecessors failed.
