Youth in Ganze Constituency Kilifi County have been challenged to venture in Agri-business so that they make ends meet.
Ganze Member of Parliament Teddy Mwambire said that youth in the area have been only practicing local farming with an aim of getting food instead of focusing more on Agribusiness with an aim of doing business with other partners within Kilifi County.
Speaking to youth in his constituency after he toured various youth group in Sokoke and Jaribuni wards, Mwambire said that youth should now focus more on modern farming and venture into business as well.
Mwambire said that with the booming hotel business within Kilifi County, youth should grow fresh produce and supply to those hotels.
“We have always been practicing maize farming, as the youth, we should now seek fresh approach and do vegetable farming so that we also supply to the already expanding hospital industry in our county,” he said.
He said that with other youthful leaders within Ganze constituency youth matters remain our main agenda.
“Let’s start with embracing modern farming methods, understand ways of harvesting water and invest in irrigation farming we will make a step in our agri-business idea” he assured the youth.
Mwambire also said that the agri-business idea is not only for the youth but all locals within Ganze constituency.
He said that locals did not focus much on other crops apart from maize and they sell the surplus whenever they have a bumper harvest.
Barely a week ago, Mwambire met with Egypt envoy Mohammed Ali Jalaat in a bid to forge a partnership on modern farming projects within Ganze constituency.
