Library and information sciences professionals and students have been urged to join the Kenya Library Association (KLA) for them to enhance their careers.
While addressing library, archives, publishing and record management professionals at Nuru Hotel in Nakuru town yesterday during a sensitisation workshop, the national KLA chairman Dr Tirong Tanui told the information scientists that they stood better chances of enhancing experience and skills in their careers by being members of the association.
Dr Tanui added that there was need for Kenya’s information professionals to play an active role in the realisation of the 2030 vision by providing better information services to society.
He said: “Informants have a big role to play in the realisation of the vision 2030 development goals of the country. We must keep in touch with current trends in the field of information provision in order for us to provide better services to society.”
The chairman said KLA holds several workshops, conferences and symposiums that bring together members and stakeholders to share information and network towards improving the dissemination of information services in the country.
