The Library's shelves have been left empty with only a few books for readers.

The current situation of the libraries has seen members of the community pressuring the County government to facilitate readability in the library.

Speaking to Hivisasa on Monday, Mr Julius Mong'are a librarian in the Ogembo library said that they are yet to receive the books from the county government as promised earlier.

"The books that we have here are old ones, we are yet to receive any books in addition," Said Ms Mong'are.

Kisii County Executive for youth, sports and culture Mainga Echate, in February this year launched the facelift of Kenyanya and Ogembo libraries and announced that the county government had plans to restock these learning centres.

The CEC yesterday said that the county government is yet to receive funds from the national government but plans are underway to fulfil the promise as soon as possible.

"We will stock the library very soon. The major challenge we have is lack of funds from the national government. We ask the community to be a little bit patient for we are working to correct the situation," said CeC Mainga.

The Ogembo library was were launched in 2015.
