Lamu residents have asked the government to lift the ban on night fishing.
The Kiunga, Ishakani, Kiangwe and Bahamisi residents said the ban has taken a toll on their income.The curfew was imposed by acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on July 9.Omar Shee, a resident, said the ban will kill the fishing industry."Fishing activities have reduced since the ban took effect. This has affected our income. I call on the government to lift the ban," said Shee.Another resident, Muhashiam Faham, said ending the curfew and improving security will improve tourism.Operation Linda Boni director Joseph Kanyiri said the government will review the situation before the curfew is lifted.
