Police have shut down the Millitary base and Millenium bodaboda terminuses in Likoni following security concerns.
Speaking on Thursday, Likoni Deputy Police Chief Anthony Shimoli said the move comes after four people were attacked by a 20-member gang, which is suspected to be using the terminuses as its hideout.
The police boss said two rival groups operating at the terminuses have been attacking passengers and robbing them, adding that two bodaboda operators are nursing injuries after being stabbed.
Shimoli urged the local administration to implement the directive and be on the look out to ensure security is maintained in the area.
“The area is prohibited as per now until further notice. Chiefs and their assistants have been instructed to be cautious and report any incidences to police,” said Shimoli, as quoted by Baraka FM.
On his part, bodabada chairman Mohammed Bakari welcomed the move, saying criminals are tainting the image of the over 100 bodaboda operators stationed at the terminuses.
He further urged police to take action against suspects said to be involved in the illegal activities.
