Former Msambweni police boss Charles Rotich has been appointed the new Likoni police chief following the transfer of Willy Simba.
Simba, who has held the position since August 15, 2014, is among security officers who were transferred in the latest reshuffle. The police boss will now be in charge of Thika following the changes.Speaking after the transfer, Simba said the change was normal, adding that there is no cause for alarm.“It’s a normal transfer and we have to abide by it as we have to work for the citizens,” said Simba, as quoted by Baraka FM. Simba has been at the forefront of fighting criminal gangs in Likoni including Wakali Kwanza, Watalia, Wajuku wa bibi and Wakali Wao. Reports from the police headquarters indicate that the transfers were undertaken in preparation for the forthcoming general election. Coast Region police commander Philip Tuimur was also transferred to North Eastern. The reshuffle comes after Likoni was named a possible poll violence hotspot.
