A 25-year-old man was on Friday morning stoned to death for allegedly attempting to catch a glimpse of a couple having sex.
The man is said to have been caught peeping through a window in the couple’s house, before he was fiercely attacked by the angry residents.
A witness interviewed by Baraka FM, said the man, a resident in Shika Adabu, Likoni, had the habit of spying on couples.
“This man has been going round people’s homes during morning hours. He peeps through the window with the habit of deriving pleasure secretly as he watches couples have sex,” said the witness.
However, other witnesses accused the man of being a thief.
“The owner raised an alarm suspecting him to be a thief and soon a mob of about 200 people, armed with stones and clubs gathered and attacked the suspect,” said a different witness.
Confirming the incident, Likoni OCPD Willy Simba said the man was attacked by the irate mob after he was caught attempting to break into the house.
“We have launched investigations but at the same time we want to warn the public against taking the law into their hands. They should have handed the suspect to police for further action to be taken,” said Simba, as quoted by the daily.
The body was taken to Coast General Hospital morgue.
