Likoni in Mombasa county is the sub county that registers the highest number of cases involving violence against women, a lobby group has said.
Sauti Ya Wanawake organization chairperson Munira Fajal said on Thursday that majority of the cases reported at domestic level involve rape and wife buttering.
Likoni is closely followed by Kisauni, then Changamwe with Mvita coming in fourth.
Overall, Munira said Mombasa County each year registers the highest number of cases of violence against women in the entire Coast region with Lamu recording the lowest number of such incidents.
A report released late last year showed a total of 433 violence cases were reported in Mombasa alone with only 73 being reported in Lamu.
The report showed that 199 women and 123 girls were sexually abused in the county.
"From our analysis, Likoni has the highest number of violence against women cases," Munira said.
"Kisauni comes second, folowed by Changamwe and finally Mvita. We are rolling out programe stat will help reduce on this cases."
Sauti Ya Wanawake is a Coast based organisation that rescues girls and women who have undergone sexual violence.
Some of incidents reported involved psychological torture, physical assault, sodomy, sexual harassment and child abduction.
