Limuru Member of Parliament (MP) John Kiragu wants the government to speedily install street lights in the constituency to curb crime.

Speaking after meeting a section of women groups on Thursday at Limuru town, the MP said that the county must move with speed and boost security.

The MP said that cases of crime are escalating in the constituency and that having street lights will help reduce it.

“I want to call upon the county government to install street lights in Limuru and adjacent towns to deal with rising insecurity,” he said.

Kiragu said that a section of residents in Limuru town have complained of increased muggings allegedly conducted during dark hours.

Meanwhile, the MP has asked women in the constituency to support development by applying for soft loans.

He said the government is offering loans and other funds which women should apply and improve their welfare.

Commenting on security matters, the MP urged the national government to implement policies that guarantee safety for the country.

He said that persistent security threats would negatively impact the country’s economy adding that security officials must work extra hard to safeguard Kenyans.

He asked Chiefs in Limuru to embrace the security strategies being initiated by the government so as to protect the public.
