Speaking in Limuru town on Sunday, Kiragu complained that sections of roads in the area are in poor condition.

He said traders and residents are finding it hard to transport their goods since most roads have been filled with water and mud.

The MP said the situation has been made worse by the heavy downpour being experienced in the area.

“I don’t know why it is taking the Kiambu government too long to tarmac our roads when there are adequate funds for the repair and renovations,” said the MP.

Kiragu said roads that had been earlier repaired have been destroyed by rain. He claimed the repairs done last year on some roads were not up to the required standards.

The Limuru MP also asked the county government to improve the drainage system in the area. He said that poor drainage has caused a lot of destruction in Limuru with rain water flooding into houses.

He also urged the government to install street lights in Limuru sub-county to encourage a 24 hour economy.

Kiragu notes that most traders and businessmen are forced to close early due to security reasons.
