Speaking on Monday during a meet-the-people tour in his constituency, Kiragu expressed great disapproval for ODM’s call for a referendum, terming it as a plan to shift the government’s focus on what is relevant.

“We should focus on what is important. We need to serve the people, provide security to Kenyans, and improve infrastructure and other things that help Kenyans, not wasting time on plain politics,” he argued.

He also accused the opposition for failure to implement their said plans and developmental agenda during the grand coalition government regime, but are now shifting the blame on Jubilee government.

“They had their term in office, what did they do? Let them refrain from pointing fingers to the government while they should be working with the government for the common good of all Kenyans,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kiragu warned police officers who have been harassing boda boda operators especially in Tigoni area.

He condemned the instances where the riders have been arrested, their motor bikes towed to the police stations and charged hefty fines on no grounds.

“Let them work. They are working hard under harsh conditions to fend for themselves. We have been holding meetings with them (operators) to identify the challenges they have so we can help them,” he said.

“We are also speaking with the police to ensure that such cases are not happening since I have received several cases. Let us support them as they are also taking part in growth of this great nation,” added the MP.
