The Advocates Complaints Commission (ACC) has suspended 32 'rogue' lawyers or struck them off the roll of advocates, over alleged professional misconduct.
According to the Attorney General Prof Githu Muigai, the advocates were disciplined following evidence of gross professional misconduct as reported by members of the public.
Some of the lawyers struck off the advocate roll include:
1. Lynette Okiro 2. Stanley Ramogo 3. Muli Koli 4. Otieno Opiacha 5. Nyansimera Geoffrey Congo 6. Joyce Mukuhi Njenga 7. Henry Wanyama 8. Macharia Mukuna 9. Martha Oiye 10. Sarah Kivuva 11. Grace Nyawira Gitonga 12. John Njaramba Njoroge 13. A.G Kiai 14. Jackson Kimeu Kakonzi 15. Apopo Joab 16. David Ochieng 17. Njenga Muchiru 18. Koome Mbogo 19. Ng’ang’a Njau 20. Violet Baraga
Those who were suspended from practicing law include:
1. Ng’ang’a Kiarie 2. Mulongo Peter 3. Mugambi Mutava 4. E. A Ngaira 5. Wanjiku Mukuru 6. Johnson Gachagua 7. Mary Munyu mwangi 8. Kute Hezron Ongiro 9. Ongicho Evans Asuga 10. Macharia Njore 11. Opondo Rosemary Atieno 12. Henry Wasilwa
The list was published in the Kenya Gazette notice, January 19, 2017.
Speaking after handing over the list to Muigai, ACC secretary James Marienga said they will no longer practice law.
