[Photo|citizen digital]Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu filed a petition at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), seeking the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga from office. The Jubilee lawmaker accuses Maraga of gross misconduct following a September 1 nullification of August 8 presidential election, which saw his party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta lose his re-election.Below are issues he raised in the petition, filed Thursday, September 14.1. Maraga exercised a judicial coup by annulling the presidential election.2. Maraga had undue influence on other Supreme Court Judges, who ruled that the August 8 elections were null and void.3. One of the judges, Mohammed Ibrahim, was forcefully stopped from participating in the ruling contrary to claims that he was unwell some days to the final Supreme Court ruling. 4. Maraga exerted undue pressure on the rest of the judges to make their judgement. 5. Maraga allowed civil activists opposed to President Kenyatta's Jubilee government to fund the Judiciary through the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO), through legal scholar, Prof Makau Mutua, (vocal critic of President Kenyatta). He is an IDLO board member.
