It has been repeatedly said that politics is a dirty game and thus not a portion for the faint hearted.

However, local celebrities can't hear any of that.

Early last year, celebrated Disk Jockey (DJ) Kaytrixx, also known as Gakau Kabochi, declared his interest to run for Mikindani MCA seat in Mombasa County.

Perhaps the celebrities are influenced by recent successes of their counterparts such as Tanzania singer Professor Jay who won the Makumi parliamentary seat, and former radio presenter Sabina Chege who is currently Murang'a County Women Representative.

Other celebrities who have declared their interest in politics include entertainer,  DJ and musician Cannibal famed for his 'Street Hustler' hit song, Cannibal is contesting for Mtopanga ward MCA seat in Kisauni, after being encouraged by his fans to go for it.

'Nikiwa Ndani' hitmaker Prince Adio is also tossing himself in the murky political waters for the second time after contesting for the Frere Town MCA seat where he came second in the 2013 elections.

In Nairobi, a host of entertainers are also joining politics.

Samuel Muraya, popularly known as DJ Mo of NTV gospel show 'Cross Over' may also be on the ballot to as he seeks to represent Nkaimurunya ward locals in Kajiado county assembly as MCA.

"I have not made my final decision yet. although I've been under intense pressure from fellow Nkaimurunya youth to run for the seat," he said early last year.

2015 Groove award female artist of the year winner Loise keep is also warming up for Kiambu County Women rep seat on a Jubilee ticket.

Others include 'Kigeugeu' hitmaker Jaguar who is contesting for the Starehe parliamentary seat.

Another latest entrant is former Churchill show comedian of the Creative Generation duo of Muchungachi and Mutumishi. 

Mutumishi is contesting for the Kabiro ward seat in Dagoretti North on an ODM Party ticket. 

Former P-Unit member Frasha is also reportedly contesting MCA seat in Athi-River.
