It was fun and joy for those who survived with a majority of them parting away with substantial amounts in petition costs as an icing on the cake.
Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba, his Samburu counterpart Moses Lenolkulal on Friday survived the axe, with the court dismissing petitions against them with costs.
Earlier on Thursday, Mombasa governor, Ali Hassan Joho victory was upheld and former Mombasa senator ordered to pay costs amounting to Sh8m.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi got a reprieve after high court judge Weldon Korir upheld his victory sighting insufficient evidence.
On Monday, Marsabit governor Mohamoud Ali and Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana petitions were upheld. Justice Said Chitembwe declared that the two were validly elected and their victories reflected the will of the people.
The court also dismissed a petition challenging Kiranyaga Governor Ann Waiguru filed by Martha Karua, after she appealed an earlier ruling.
However, Homabay Governor Cyprian Awiti and Embu Governor Martin wambora suffered the heaviest casualty after his election was annulled.
Wajir Counterpart Mohammed Ali suffered the same fate Last month.
