[Jubilee’s secretary general Raphael Tuju at a past event. Photo/Courtesy] President Uhuru Kenyatta has named Raphael Tuju as the new secretary general of Jubilee party.
The position was approved by Jubilee’s National Executive Council after holding a meeting at State House, Tuesday.
Tuju has been serving as the party’s secretariat until his appointment, Tuesday.
Veronica Maina, who earlier held the secretary general post in an Acting capacity, was named deputy chair in charge of party strategy.
Uhuru appreciated Veronica for the role she played in merging the then Jubilee Alliance affiliate parties while she was the secretary general.
“Veronica who has navigated the stormy waters of bringing our parties; TNA, URP and very many others together,” said Uhuru.
He further thanked the two leaders for their hard work.
“We thank you for that effort. It was not easy but we appreciate the hard work you put into that effort,” the president added.
Others who were also assigned roles to oversee Jubilees nominations in April include; former head of Jubilee’s election board Lumatette Muchai (disciplinary committee chair), Andrew Musangi (elections board chair) and Faith Waigwa (appeals tribunal chair).
Deputy president William Ruto was also present at the meeting which was held in Sate House, Nairobi.
