Baringo senator Gideon Moi could complicate matrix for Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
Both have expressed intentions to run for presidency, a move that almost created bitter rivalry among them towards elections.
And having dismissed Moi’s senatorial bid in favour of Simon Chelugui, Moi’s victory could now give Ruto headache given his financial muscle and ability to mobilize.
In the category, incoming West Pokot Governor John Longanyapuo is expected to back up Moi’s dominance in Rift Valley, a move that would further weaken Ruto’s influence.
At South Rift, Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno, who survived Jubilee wave is another pillar to KANU and headache to DP Ruto.
Prior to elections, Ng’eno was one of the vocal MPs who took Ruto head on whenever he disagreed with some of Jubilee policies.
In Central Kenya, outgoing Kiambu Governor William Kabogo would use his influence to mobilize the region behind him for 2022 elections.
Outside Jubilee strongholds, the DP is expected to face another challenge from Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, who won his second term by a landslide.
