Despite indicating that Raila Odinga's swearing-in date would be communicated at a later date, the process is facing resistance from top leaders within the coalition.

On Sunday, NASA postponed the programme that was scheduled on Tuesday despite having identified Mombasa'S Tononoka as the venue.

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who was also set to take Deputy President's oath, is said to have advised against the move over fears that his international image will be irredeemable should he take oath.

Also, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are also said to have advised against the event, adding that those supporting the event had not given clear strategy on the way forward after the oath taking.

Conspicuously, Raila Odinga's wife, Ida Odinga, reportedly told organizers to swear in a different person other than her husband.

Strategists David Ndii, who has been vocal in calling for secession, also opposed oath taking but remained focused on calls for self-determination.

A part from youthful NASA leaders calling for swearing-in, only Johnstone Muthama backed the bid.

With radical opposition supporters accusing Raila of betrayal, it is not clear what strategy he will use to restore hope on them.
