Deputy President William Ruto as continued to receive overwhelming support from coast region following his 2022 presidential bid.
Several leaders who are allied to Raila Odinga's ODM party have shifted allegiance from supporting Deputy Party Leader Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho's 2022 presidential bid and promised to rally behind the DP.
Ruto was at Kwale Show Grounds for an Iftar dinner hosted by Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori on Sunday.
Several ODM leaders attended the event, including; Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Suleiman Dori, Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, Owen Baya (Kilifi North), Jones Mlolwa (Voi), Kasim Tandaza (Matuga), alongside Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma and his Mombasa counterpart Mohamed Faki.
The two senators called for peace across coast.
Jumwa said: "We have already built bridges, what we are doing now is that we are walking on them. That is why we are crisscrossing the country to preach peace and promote unity. Will we keep on voting and remaining in opposition? We must be in the next government that will be formed by Mr Ruto. Let us remember him at the ballot."
Also present was Jomvu MP Twalib Badi who spoke out and indicated: "Mr Ruto is Kenyan and we will continue supporting him. We want to work with him so that we can bring development at the Coast. We should not be questioned by anyone when we declare our support for him."
Dori warned that ODM leaders who have pledged to support Ruto should not be victimised following a warning from Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
Also present were Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo, Governors Salim Mvurya (Kwale), Amason Kingi (Kilifi).
