ODM has issued direct nominations to nine loyal members who party leader Raila Odinga said will oversee ODM campaigns. The nine include six governors; Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Josephat Nanok (Turkana), David Nkedianye (Kajiado) and James Ongwae (Kisii). They will be tasked to oversee campaigns in specific regions and deliver the vote to the opposition in August.Others are nominated Senator Janet Ongera, Homa Bay woman representative Gladys Wanga and Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi. The team, according to Raila, will be joined by four other leaders yet to be named."I am greatly proud to preside at this event at which we award our party certificates to some of our hardest working and strongest aspirants and set them free to focus on the big battle of August elections," Raila said during the event in Nairobi."Some of you have been honoured by your constituents because of the dedication with which you have served the party. A number of you are converts from zones that have seen the Jubilee lies and decided to join the change movement."The opposition is currently under pressure to establish structures that will help it run its campaigns ahead of the August polls."You get your papers in the week that the party begins its primaries. The primaries are critical to our plans for August and for the country after the elections. I urge you to be the party’s ambassadors, helping to ensure that the nominations are free, fair and credible. One of the most severe headaches facing the opposition NASA is choosing a presidential candidate without rowing the alliance to the extent of disintegration.Raila, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) are all gunning for the presidency under NASA.
