Governors during their induction in Diani Kwale County. [Photo: @KenyaGovernors]To fast track implementation of programs and activities of the Council of Governors, various governors were elected on Friday during the governors induction in Diani, Kwale county, to chair different committees.
During the induction, Salim Mvurya of Kwale was elected as the CoG chair and will be deputized by Kirinyanga's Anne Waiguru. They two will take over in sixth month to allow Turkana's Josephat Nanok to finish his term.
Governors who will chair the following 18 committees include ; 1. Migori County Governor Okoth Obado - Agriculture Committee.2. Samburu County Governor Moses Kasaine - Arid & Semi-Arid Land (ASAL) Committee.3. Lamu County Governor Fahim Twaha - Cooperatives & Enterprise Development Committee.4. Kericho County Governor Paul Chepkwony – Education, Youth, Gender, Sports, Culture & Social Services Committee.5. Bomet County Governor Joyce Laboso - Finance, Commerce & Economic Affairs Committee.6. Isiolo County Governor Mohammed Kuti – Health Committee.7. Kisii County Governor James Ongwae – Human Resources, Labour & Social Welfare Committee.8. Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos – Information, Technology & Communication Committee.9. Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia – Infrastructure & Energy Committee.10. Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang – Intergovernmental Relations Committee.11. Makueni County Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana – Legal Affairs & Human Rights Committee.12. Tharaka Nithi County Governor Muthomi Njuki – Resources Mobilization (Internal Committee)
13. Embu County Governor Martin Wambora – Security & Foreign Affairs committee.14. Narok County Governor Samuel Ole Tunai – Tourism & Wildlife committee.15. Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wanagamati – Trade, Industry & Investment committee.16. Kiambu county Governor Waititu Baba Yao – Urban Development, Planning & Lands committee.17. Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi – Water, Forestry & Mining committee.18. The Rules and Business committee is an Internal Committee and will be headed by all committee Chairs.
