Campaigns for the 2022 presidential elections seem to have kicked off with the famous 'resist' campaign as well as the 'golden handshake'.
Lobbying is rife and antagonism is already hitting the country as Kenyans guess on who will be in the next government.
However, going by the recent political developments, there are senior politicians who seem to have already angled themselves for a key position in the 2022-2027 government as listed below;
Raila Odinga
Going by the current speculation, the opposition chief may occupy the country's top seat (president). However, this will only pass if the Constitution is amended to pull off the age limit cap that may bar him from contesting for the presidency. Political analysts have already hinted that, currently, he is the favorite candidate for the people of Central Kenya. But, he will have to declared he will support a candidate from Mt Kenya during the 2027 polls. Raila has a huge following in the country.
Uhuru Kenyatta
He is the current head of state and according to COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli Uhuru is still too young to quit leadership. If the Constitution is successfully amended to create the prime minister and deputy prime minister positions, Uhuru may occupy the prime minister's office. This will be an avenue for him to groom somebody from the Central region who will take over the mantle of leadership from him after 2027.
Kalonzo Musyoka
The Wiper party leader has been at the political cold since 2013 and is yearning to return to government. He is the only NASA co-principal, apart from Raila, who has backed a referendum that will usher in the amendment of the 2010 Constitution. He stands high to become deputy prime minister (One). He would most of the time execute the prime minister's functions in the absence of the latter.
William Ruto
The Deputy President has insisted that he will at the presidential ballot in 2022. He has good mobilization skills and can pull a super stub at the presidency. If he makes good his declaration and vies, he may become Kenya's fifth president.
Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula
One of the two NASA co-principals may deputize Ruto in 2022 and become deputy president. Ruto is presently 'seducing' Western and specifically Luhya leaders and may pick his deputy from the vote-rich region is his support from Uhuru during the polls flops.
